Editorial standards
What we promise readers, members and sponsors.
Independence
Zeitgeist decides what to cover. Members, sponsors and advertisers don’t see stories before they publish, and they can’t buy, edit or stop coverage.
Paid content is always labeled
Your Neighbor Highlights, newsletter sponsorships and neighborhood sponsorships are paid. They always carry a “Paid placement” or “Sponsored” label, and they never run as news or blog posts.
Membership
Membership lists a business in I’m looking for and includes a quarterly Neighbor Highlight. It doesn’t change how we report on that business.
The ZG List
Nominations are free. An independent panel chooses honorees, and no one can pay to be considered or selected.
Conflicts of interest
If a writer has a personal or financial tie to a person or business in a story, we disclose it in the story or assign the story to someone else.
Corrections
When we get something wrong, we fix it and add a note at the end of the story saying what changed and when. Send corrections to corrections@zeitgeistnashville.com.
